I've known Alda since Youth 09.That was the first time i ever met him and he was playing an acoustic show with Car Crash Hearts.I've met him possibly 2-3 more times at different gigs but as i got busier with college,i didn't have the time to go to as much gigs anymore but Alda nevertheless still invites me and always says that he hopes to see me there and basically being a big bro to me whenever i asked his advice on different matters.He was the one who gave me my confidence in my photography,i don't think he knows this but he was the first ever musician who used a picture i took of him as his facebook profile picture although i had just started taking pictures with a dslr about less than 3 months before that and for that,i'll be always grateful that he thought my picture was good enough.I never knew that 3 years later that i would be writing this blog post asking you guys to please pray for him no matter what God or higher power you believe in.Yesterday morning,i woke up in shock when the first tweet i saw on twitter was JD (Pop Shuvit) tweeting that Alda was in surgery due to a burst capillary in his brain and was in a coma however today,Alda's sister has confirmed that the condition is something else,please read here.Alda is a good guy and what happened to him has not only come as a shock to me but also to all of friends and his family as well.He is currently doing better according to his sister's blog but prayers help so i urge all of you who stumble upon this post,even if you do not know him,please please please send out a prayer for him.i believe in miracles.

January 2011 Reflections

Its now 30th January 2011.On Tuesday,it will be the 2nd month into 2011.Times passes by so fast.So far in January,i've learned a few things about myself and about people.I'll probably do a monthly post about things that i've learned so far in 2011.

Things i've learned so far in January 2011

1. I can slowly but surely trust again without hesitating.
2. Rejection won't break me but i can surely learn to ignore it and move on
3. People will always talk so either give them something worthy enough to talk about or ignore them and move on because dwelling on things does not help the matter or your feelings at all
4. swings will always make me happy
5. I can smile in photographs,it just depends on who is taking the photograph
6. I'm slowly loving more colours and am leaning towards more colourful accessories and clothing
7. I'm starting to love vintage looking dresses and clothing and accessories
8. people will either sugarcoat their words or be extremely brutal so be careful and look beyond the words and between the lines
9. I've learned that it is ok to be fearful of losing someone or something important and that it is not weak to feel that way
10. Friends who really love you will be there for you if you really need them even if its 2 in the morning
11. It doesn't take much to make someone happy,just a bit of attention sometimes will actually do the trick
12. I've learned that it is ok to feel happy and love again

Comic Fiesta 2009

My gosh,time really flies,doesn't it?In less than four months,its Comic Fiesta 2010 and an email from Dustyhawk reminded me that i haven't even post up my review of Comic Fiesta 2009 yet.gomenasai (sorry) Life and college been so busy so kinda slipped out of my mind so without further ado,i shall review the event from what i remember.

Cosplayers

The cosplayers were much better at CF09 than CF08 from what i remember but it feels like there were too many vocaloid cosplayers and i remember one guy who really stand out because of the height of his costume which was No Face from Spirited Away

The treatment for cosplayers were not too bad by the committee & public in general except some ppl are so rude in the sense that they do not ask before they take pictures.Me and my ex were just holding hands (my ex was cosplaying at that time,i wasn't) and those people just keep flipping out their cellphones and digi cams and try to take pics of me and my ex (trust me,i don't even know why) we literally scolded and shoved hands in front of the cams because it was so rude!!! I think better security over things like these would be needed for CF this year as i even heard rumours about some cosplayers got upskirt shots.

Lighting & photography

Much much better than CF08 but i still needed to use my 50mm portrait lens with my Akago (Canon EOS 450D) as it was better for low light conditions.It helps that this time there were better spacing for cosplayers to pose and for photographers to have enough space to composite their shots

Booths

I didn't manage to walk around the booths too much but is it just me or does things seem a bit pricey?According to my sources,certain things which were sold at CF09 were the same from GACC 09 but the price was higher?I guess booth owners have to compensate for rent somehow.

Changing Room

I was cosplaying on day 2.There was barely a place for us to get ready.Most people got ready in the bathrooms which wasn't convenient for my ex and my guy friend to help me out (one was helping me with my costume,the other with my wig) so i literally got ready next to the escalator(it kinda helped that i forgot to wear my contact lenses so i can't even recognize ppl who stared at me)

Air conditioning

It was pretty pretty cold to me but for people who were cosplaying in thicker costumes,i guess it helped them but i know i was freezing like mad!!!

Committee & volunteers

They were very helpful generally but i think on first aid matters,it could have been improved.i sprained my ankle at the end of day 2 and i couldn't even move anywhere.none of my friends knew who to look for first aid matters.i had to call up dustyhawk to ask him to help me get first aid which i'm grateful.

All in all,i give the whole event a 6/10.Could be much better :)

Canon Photomarathon 2009

Yesterday was the Canon Photomarathon 2009.It was held in Sunway Lagoon.Registration time started at 7am.Me & my bro left the house at about 5.45am as we had to pick up my love from his house & Steven from the LRT station as well.We got to Sunway Pyramid Tower Hotel about 7.30am if i'm not mistaken.Parked the car and walked all the way to the lagoon's elephant walk entrance.Let's just put it this way,its FAR!

Registered ourselves and waited around for the marathon to start.We had the usual delays in waiting and all.So while we waited around,Canon decided to ask their youth ambasabor who is a singer named Ryan to sing for us.He's cute and all but i think in my humble opinion,his dancing skills were better than his singing.

Not long after that,the briefing started.We had all the usual rules such as respecting the visitors and etc.Finally they announced the themes.

The marathon started about 10am.There were some problems initially for me & my love as Canon did not exactly brief on whether or not,we were allowed to use the theme park facilities.Initially me and my love asked one of the lagoon's employees on it and they said its ok,that's why we decided to get wet and get good splash shots but much later as we dried ourselves after we got the shots,we got warned @-@ We were given until 3pm to take shots as 3pm-7pm was the time for us to upload the pics but some trouble occured.Read on if you wanna know what happened.

Me & my love got all our shots done by about 12 plus.We decided to play around for a bit and had lunch and also modeled for Steven for some shots before we went to upload our shots.The problem with uploading started about 4 plus pm.

I had a problem with my log in ID.Apparently,they can't find my IC num in the system which is absurd as i had online registered couple of weeks before already.So ok,fine,i waited for them to rectify my problem.One of the Canon guys came and said they found the back number of my IC num which is unique to a person and he said he will check on the problem and get back to me which he never did as the section i was at to upload the pics was closed because of server problems and we were asked to move to another section.

I got to the other section.I was once again refered to another Canon guy @-@ I was getting really annoyed and frustrated at this point because earlier i had gotten myself to a pc already and all because of my log in ID problem,i can't upload my pics.The other guy took my details such as my name,phone number,e-mail and everything all down and told me he will check on it and call me which he never did.Come to think of it,i should have gotten his number instead of giving him mine.I still feel uncomfortable about it.

Eventually he passed by my section again and i asked him again and he said that the official Canon people will call me if they have any news which they never did until i had manually uploaded my pictures already! Canon,the server crashed at least 4 times.I waited for almost 2 hours before i could even so-called upload my pics.The server crashed twice,you should have stopped the so-called online uploading and started manual uploading!It was very frustrating to just sit around and wait for nothing.My love kept having problems with his uploads as well.He became my punching bag because i was so frustrated.I sat down there from about 4pm till about 6.45pm,i think without doing anything.Nobody from Canon really explained to me what is the problem with my log in ID.In fact,the 1st Canon guy had the accusing tone and said that i probably did not register.I tell you,if i wasn't controlling myself,i would have given him a piece of my mind.Eh,i wasn't the only one with this problem so you meant to say that everyone that had a problem with their log in ID did not register?I could have opened up my gmail and showed him the e-mail that i got that confirmed my registration.

So about close to 7pm,they finally started asking people to manually upload which was pointless as most participants who got so frustrated already left.So me,my love,my bro & Steven manually uploaded our pics and left for dinner and came back to wait for the results.Problems came with the results as well.

We came back from dinner and waited patiently for the results.They showed pictures submitted by the participants while we waited and if the photographer who took the shots were there,they were asked by the emcee to come and explain about the shot if the emcee liked their shot.My love's shot was selected :)

Oh yeah,remember when i said that the results had a problem?As a result of the major server crash,it took the judges a bit longer to receive our pics and as a result,the judging got delayed.They said the earliest they can judge finish and give our results would be around 12am @-@ That was nuts!!! Sorry Canon,i love you & i love my Akago but honestly,you let the whole lot of us down yesterday.Most of us,if not all went back as they said they will put up the results on their Facebook which came out according to people who kept watch about 4 plus am @-@ More comments on the event are on this Facebook event wall.

Well,this event was tiring and also frustrating but it was also a lot of fun.Thanks to my bro for being the driver,Steven for giving me comments on which shots i should submit,Mr King Lee who taught me and my love how to play with some settings on my Akago and last but not least,my love who was my biggest supporter,who came and accompany me despite not having enough sleep,who was my pillow when i got tired,who was my punching bag and biting bag when i was so frustrated with the log in ID & server problems and who loves me for me :)Btw,you took awesome shots,my love :) Thanks for everything.

Expensive Hobby

Did these pics on a website called Rollip.Quite cool rite?They can make ur pics be like Polaroids or do cool sepia colours on them :) If i have the money,i would love to buy a Polaroid camera but its so hard to find one.Now I'm aiming for a Fish Eye lens and also a lomography cam :) but a Polaroid cam is like really on top of my list.Failing which,well,I'll just settle with my Akago,a lomography cam and a fish eye lens but I'm aiming to get a Canon Powershot D10 as well since it is waterproof but i have been doing my research and find that Olympus Stylus Tough-8000.Kinda hard though to have to pick an Olympus over a Canon since i love Canon.Only reason i would get digicam is because it is more portable than a DSLR and don't get me wrong,i do love my Akago but sometimes its hard to sneak it anywhere.Akago is a Canon EOS 450D.If i ever (which i might) get another DSLR,I will probably get a Canon EOS 500D/5D MKII but 40D is not bad also.

Oh cameras,why do you have to be so expensive?I haven't even talk about lenses yet.Current aim is this 70-200mm but this other one is more to my budget lar since my standard and portrait lenses are serving me well but the 70-200mm will help when i take events shots since I'm so short and sometimes i stand too far from the stage to really get any good shots.A 24-70mm lens will help also but that is if i really damn rich d lar because its more a mid zoom lens which is the kinda distance i used to take cosplayers pics at events but my standard lens which is a 18-55mm and also my 50mm lens is serving me quite well on that at the moment.

I'm aiming for an external flash for my Akago which is this one which i know is expensive but nevertheless,the flash would help with a lot of my pics.I sound like a geek right.Well,blame my bro on this lar.He got me into the whole photography thing along with Secret who i shall now reveal his name which is Steven.Btw,my bro,Steven & Kelvin have a photography business at Raw Pixel Studios.Drop by there & have a look.They have really great shots & no,I'm not being bias.

As for my own photography which is QLP Photography.Well at the moment,I'm not really shooting anyone or any events other than doing favors for friends or events that i go to.I do miss shooting and btw,i have a strange feeling that someone hacked into my photography e-mail which is a diff e-mail add from my usual one so until i do get a new e-mail add & blog for my photography.I won't be linking it yet.Anywayz,leavin you all with some pics that i goggled in case you are not sure about how lomo cams & fish eye lens pics look & a MV by Big Bang :P

For me,i find that in photography,the model and the photographer should be comfortable with each other.Models who model with another model for shoots should be comfortable with that other model as well.It shows in the actual picture actually of how the model really feels.No matter how good a model is,there are hidden stuff that a camera lens can pick up even though a naked eye might not notice it.I learned that from the Taiwanese version of Hana Kimi (its a show lar k?) but i also noticed this for myself.Pics that i look most comfortable or happy in are pics that i'm comfy with the photographer or comfy with the people that i'm the pic with or both.

That's just what i noticed for myself anywayz.Going Animangaki this weekend,if you see me,come over and say hi and get me to take pics k?Don't be shy,i don't bite :p Take care.

my b'day is on the 5th May.Coming in like 2 weeks plus time.anywayz...this is my list of 19 things i want & want to do b4 i turn 21st(i'll add more once i did the things and 19 becoz i'm turning 19 as hard as it is to believe...)

19 things i want for my 19th b'day

1) hair makeover (done,thanks to mummy dearest)
2) driving licence (yes,i still can't drive...anybody willing to pay for a instructor and my exams for me???)
3) Estee Lauder Model Search Makeover Package/day at the spa (i've not ever been to a spa)
4) 1TB external hard disk (to store my Japanese/Taiwanese/korean dramas,animes,music,pics and random stuff)
5) a Sony Vaio or Dell laptop in red,black,pink or apple green colour (preferbally 3/4GB ram & 320/380 hard disk space)
6)everything Domokon from Action City in the Gardens Mid Valley.Domokon t-shirts and caps are accepted as well (yes,i'm in love with that thing.I want every single Domokon from Action City in the Gardens Mid Valley,i don't care if its the same thing,just that diff size.I want every size!!!Even the handbag!In case you don't know what Domukon is,here are pics for your info

17) Flash Diffuser/extra battery/external flash/extra memory card/camera bag for my baby (Canon EOS 450D)
18) tickets to Lee Hom's concert or Vertical Horizon in Singapore (if i don't go for road trip)
19) the last thing i want is just for ppl to remember my b'day and to wish me :)

19 things i want to do before i turn 21

1) get into Zouk (illegally...)
2) club all night,crash in a friend's car in the col carpark and wake up for classes straightaway (parents would kill me...)
3) go on a roadtrip either with the guys,my babes or Secret,Kelvin & my bro (still waiting on it...)
4) go out a whole day shopping and get everything i want (obviously not within my means...)
5) flirt outrageously and make the guy think he picked up an underage girl (yes,i'm mean...)
6) dye a crazy hair colour (like orange or blood red or pink)
7) DRIVE!!!
8) go out one whole day for gigs,shopping and then clubbing
9) stay a whole day in Starbucks just hanging with the boi and my guys plus babes
10) go Singapore on my own just on a solitary road trip
11) travel to Australia or US or Japan
12) sneak backstage at a gig where i know no insider people there
13) at least see Fall Out Boy/Paramore/Hey Monday/The Ting Tings/Lady Gaga in a gig once
14) do a whole day of photoshooting my friends for collages/photobooks
15) bungeejump
16) sing on stage alone/with a backup band in front of a crowd/remake music video(s) of my choice
17) be crazy in public as in jumping around,sing,dance away without a care in the world and pose for pics like there's no 2molo (i do that but rather toned down,i want to be really crazy! ala Avril Lavigne & her bois in the "Complicated" music video)
18) fake being a couple with one of my bois for a whole weekend (for the total heck of it)
19) cosplay as anything i want like Katy Perry or Lady Gaga,Miss Yuko from xxxholic or even Hagu from Honey & Clover

These are just things i want & want to do.I know i kinda selfish and silly to ask for so many things that aren't really important but i guess that's just me.I'm still growing up so most of what i want and asked for and want to do sound crazy but then again,i'm never really normal.Just wishing me a happy b'day does make me happy as well :) take care
